Thoughts

Mum you were always more than just a Mum to me, in the early days you taught me everything I needed to know to make a start in life. As I grew a bit older we became more like brother and sister, travelling places to see Dad with work, helping me with School Projects, coming on School Trips. I will never forget waking up on the morning of my first school fete and you’d decorated my tractor all in silver foil, it was called the Moonraker, I was the envy of everyone at School and I won first prize. We had some amazing holidays together as a family. You always gave everything a go even though it was out of your comfort zone. We went roller blading in the dark along the Mallorcan Sea Front, Hired Bikes in France to cycle around the ponds in Versailles to feed the fish every day whilst Dad was working, watched the whales and dolphins from a catamaran in Tenerife (but forgot to put a film in the camera) and sailed a small sailing boat and speed boat in California. You loved your shopping. We had so many great trips to Milton Keynes Shopping Centre growing up. This was your true passion. You used to bribe me with breakfast there so we could park the car. I’m so glad you were also able to share these happy times with Sarah and both come home grinning from ear to ear with your purchases. You always had my side, much to Dad’s disgust, you were always there for me. But you never over mothered me you left me to make my own decisions and mistakes in life. I’m glad that you were able to leave an impression not only on our hearts and that will always stay and I will always be seeking your approval. You’ve also been able to be part of Ralphs life. You both had a special bond, and it was like reliving my childhood seeing the two of you together. Seeing him tell you how much he loved you for the last time dressed up in his buzz lightyear outfit and you giving the same response with a big, beautiful smile is one of the most painful but magical moments I have experienced and will last with me forever. I hoped you’d of seen him go off to school in his uniform and let him come home and tell you all about his first day but we will make sure that we come and tell you all about it. At this point I won’t be saying goodbye as you will be by our side, keeping us in check for the rest of our lives, making sure we all look after each other. I love you Mum.

I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
