Our move to Stanbridge

Created by David 3 years ago

We lived in a modern house in Leighton Buzzard and needed a bit more garden space and the opportunity to live in a village where we could be a bigger part of a smaller community. We finally found a bit of a renovation project in Stanbridge. The house was the old Doctors surgery and was early victorian. A but ugly from out side but it was in a beautiful location with plenty of land. So we moved. Timing was right because my job was going well and i was working less hours so would have the time to work on the house in the evenings and weekends. Wham, one week after moving in our company was taken over and home would be a rare visit as i had to travel all around the world. Step up Lorraine and Tony Briggs, our local builder extraordinaire. With his expertise and my cash we managed to make the house livable. Lorraine certainly sorted out the house at a time when i should have been there. Central heating, kitchen extention, the famous AGA, ensuite bathroom, lounge conversion from garage, new garage. Etc. We were living in the house for so long that when an annex was built we had to have it done by Tony’s son, Edward. Lorraine made the house into what she called a real home. We (really she) hosted so many events and parties. She loved life!
